Houston Zoo Trip, Saturday, May 30th, 2009
Hello everyone,
Our club will be taking a trip to the Houston Zoo, on Saturday, May 30th, 2009.
For those of us who want to travel together we will be meeting at the Church of the Living God in Beaumont by 6:45 to 7:00 am to leave by 7:15 am. We need to be at the Front Entrance of the Zoo in Houston by the large Aviary to meet Matt Schmidt at 9:00 am.
Matt will be giving us a behind the scenes tour of the avian section of the zoo.
Be sure and thank Matt and the rest of the staff that we will meet along the way for their help. Bring a camera because you never know what you will get to see!
There is an admission fee for the Zoo, I think that it is around $10.00 for an adult. Last time we went we ate at the attractions at at the Zoo, some carried ice chests in their cars and went to the parking lot to eat.
I understand that the zoo has been doing quite a bit of upgrading! After we see the avian part of the zoo then we usually split up into groups to see the rest of the zoo.
I hope we have a good turn out for this trip.
See you Saturday!

Hugs,

Hello everyone, My friends Margie and Harold are giving up their two beloved parrots, Pepper a double yellow head and Indy a blue (red?) fronted amazon.
They are about 15 yrs old (I think) very tame and talk. Margie and Harold want them to stay together.
If you or anyone can adopt them, that would be great. They come with cages.
Call me any time, my cell: 281 235 5803

Dear AFA-ers:
As part of our mission to educate bird owners and to raise funds for accomplishing our charitable activities, AFA is considering an experiment. We propose this year to professionally video (and audio) record some of the August Convention talks and to sell videos and perhaps audio recordings of the talks afterwards on the AFA Store.
Before we commit to this, we would like to know if our members (and, hopefully, friends) would be willing to buy the recordings at a price that covers costs and and provides some income for AFA. If the response is good, we may arrange to record all talks at subsequent Conventions. (Of course, speakers could decline to be recorded, if they so wish.)
We would appreciate hearing from you. Here are some questions we have:
1.) Would you be interested in purchasing videos if individual talks would cost in the $10 - $18 each range? (Any less and it isn\'t worth the trouble.)
2.) Would you be interested in purchasing audio recordings (probably in the $5 - $10 each range)?
3.) If you are associated with a company or organization, would you be interested in purchasing a short spoken and displayed advertisement to appear for a few seconds before the video begins (only spoken for audios)? A small logo could continue to be displayed in the lower right or lower left corner of the video.
Any comments?
Thanks
Janice

In only 7 steps...
Per: Mary Beth/Responsible Pet Owners Alliance (RPOA) www.responsiblepetowners.org
State of Texas HB 3180 has been referred to the Texas Senate Committee on Criminal Justice... as HB 3180. It doesn't appear that Companion Bill SB 1910 has enough time to move through the process before the deadline next week.
We will continue our focus on HB 3180 at this time:
1) Click: http://capwiz.com/pijac/issues/alert/ ... 32246&PROCESS=Take+Action
2) Enter/confirm your zip code.
3) Tick "Email." You will receive a copy that can be printed and mailed as a letter.
4) Compose your message, by either using the Talking Points provided or by adding your own.
5) Provide your contact information.
6) Send message.
7) Bookmark and repeat *daily*.
Hard copies of emails are presented to the congressional recipients. Let's send them boxes' worth.
THANK YOU!
