"Monty and Sonoma were both part of the 'Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill'" flock. They suffered injuries while learning to fly, Monty a broken leg and Sonoma a broken back. They have since healed perfectly and are now ready to be companion birds for the rest of their lives."

Hello everyone,

Due to work schedules, vacation, and family commitments the officers are not able to attend the May Meeting, therefore we've canceled the May meeting. We are very sorry for any problems this may have caused.

Please do not forget our trip to the Houston Zoo on Saturday, May 22nd. We are supposed to meet Matt at the entrance to the Zoo at 9:00 A.M. ready to go, which means our tickets, etc need to be already purchased. Remember if you purchase a zoo membership you get in all year for the price of the membership. You also get a discount in the Zoo Store. If you want to meet and ride together we should be leaving from The Church of the Living God by 6:30 A.M. this should give us plenty of time to get to the Zoo and get our tickets purchased and a break before the tour starts.

----- Forwarded Message ----
From: Marie Adams minimari@comcast.net

Hello everyone, My friends Margie and Harold are giving up their two beloved parrots, Pepper a double yellow head and Indy a blue (red?) fronted amazon.

They are about 15 yrs old (I think) very tame and talk. Margie and Harold want them to stay together.

If you or anyone can adopt them, that would be great. They come with cages.

Call me any time, my cell: 281 235 5803
Marie

Houston Zoo Trip, Saturday, May 30th, 2009
Hello everyone,

Our club will be taking a trip to the Houston Zoo, on Saturday, May 30th, 2009. For those of us who want to travel together we will be meeting at the Church of the Living God in Beaumont by 6:45 to 7:00 am to leave by 7:15 am. We need to be at the Front Entrance of the Zoo in Houston by the large Aviary to meet Matt Schmidt at 9:00 am.

Matt will be giving us a behind the scenes tour of the avian section of the zoo. Be sure and thank Matt and the rest of the staff that we will meet along the way for their help. Bring a camera because you never know what you will get to see!

There is an admission fee for the Zoo, I think that it is around $10.00 for an adult. Last time we went we ate at the attractions at at the Zoo, some carried ice chests in their cars and went to the parking lot to eat.

I understand that the zoo has been doing quite a bit of upgrading! After we see the avian part of the zoo then we usually split up into groups to see the rest of the zoo.

I hope we have a good turn out for this trip.

See you Saturday!
