U.S. House votes to outlaw computer spyware By Andy Sullivan Tue May 24, 1:20 AM ET WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Monday voted to establish new penalties for purveyors of Internet"spyware"that disables users'computers and secretly monitors their activities. By overwhelming majorities, the House passed two bills that stiffen jail sentences and establish multimillion-dollar fines for those who use secret surveillance programs to steal credit-card numbers, sell software or commit other crimes. Spyware has emerged as a major headache for computer users over the last several years. It can sap computing power, crash machines and bury users under a blizzard of unwanted ads. Scam artists use spyware to capture passwords, account numbers and other sensitive data. Spyware can end up on users'computers through a virus or when they download games or other free programs off the Internet. "Consumers have a right to know and have a right to decide who ...

| New Feature Added from Southeast Texas Links (2005/5/22 12:20) |
|
Hello all, This week we added a new feature to the website. The next time you log in you will see two changes in the Login Block (the area where you type your username and password.) First change is that now you can log in using either your username on the site, or by using your email address. Also, there is a Remember Me check box that allows you to have the site remember your login information so you dont have to put it in the next time you come to the site. Just check that box, and next time you come to the site you will automatically be logged in.It stores your information for up to 30 days so that when you return to the site you will automatically be logged in. Very nice when you are an active participant in discussion forums. As always, look for even more improvements soon. Enjoy, --Admin

Hey Speed at Mad Cycles Motor Company You asked for it And we're giving it to you You see, Speed (Sean Sonnier, Owner of the Brand Spankin'New Aftermarket Harley Shop in Downtown Beaumont, Texas -- on the web at www.MadCycles.us ) told us all about the great people he met and the great music he listened to while serving his country in the Armed Forces. His 2nd home became the Tacoma/Seattle Washington area where I guess he was defending us against those ruthless Canadians! Who Knows? None of us had seen Sean in quite a while, and here we were in his brand new shop at 1347 Park Street, you know, used to be the ABC Armature Works building right across the street from Hydro-Clean. He was hooking up his bike lift and cleaning up after a long week of getting the brand new store front ready, telling us about all the things he'd seen over the last seven years or so. So you see, Sean (Speed) started telling us about bands we'd never heard of before. Told us there were bands ...

| Triangle Computer Needs Help Testing Software from Mad Cycles Motor Company (2005/4/7 16:30) |
|
Triangle-Computer.com is testing a module that allows the posting of Classified Ads on the website on this website. I've been wanting to implement this module on a couple of websites that we have under administration, but for various reasons have delayed the deployment. We need people to post ads and report any problems back to the Admin. If you've got anything you'd like to buy or sell, please considering running a free ad on Triangle-Computer.com. When I feel confident that the module is working without any problems I'd considering installing it on more sites. Registered users can post their ads for free at www.Triangle-Computer.com . --Todd Fogal

To send a message to everyone online just type something into the Shout block, and click on, you guessed it, SHOUT! I'll be looking for comments to this news item to see how yall like it.
