For the first time ever, we broke 1 million hits in September of 2004. Way to go everyone and thanks for putting this site in the top ranks! We had exactly: 1042376 hits.

NOW you can broadcast your classified advertisement to the nntp news group: nntp://alt.pets.parrots.marketplace I've taken some of the donations and purchased an nntp account that will allow you to post your classified advertisement (and other messages using the news interface). You can browse the newsgroups here: Newsgroup Messages on the main menu. My account only allows for 3 active connections but that should be OK for now.

A few new domains point to aviary.info now... http://www.parrotclassified.com http://www.birdclassified.com http://www.iowaparrot.com http://www.timnehafricangrey.com These have been added to help increase the website's exposure. Hopefully your classified ads will get more responses as well.

Hey, forgot to mention the regular maintenance I had planned for tonight... :( Rolled back some of the website data, but not much. Sorry for any inconvenience everyone. I have another planned maintenance that I'll be doing this weekend on Saturday Evening but it shouldn't have as much impact. Basically I'm just cleaning out some clutter and speeding things up again.

Now you can click on" Classifieds on Other Sites "on the menu and see ads from other websites.. right from here! Just click the link on the menu and then choose a site to look at. It will show you the ads on that site and a link directly to it. - There are still a couple little quirks in the system that I'm working out but it's looking good so far!

Why do we broadcast classified ads to your site? On the classified ad page on my site it shows your site's link and invites people to visit, which they most likely do so they can see their ad on your site. It benefits your site by showing that you have plenty of ads for people to browse through. A number of parrot related websites welcome the opportunity to give more information to their members and classified ads are one of the biggest reasons people come to sites like yours and mine. To buy or sell a bird. I'm working on making it more difficult to accidentally post duplicate ads on my site and others by checking the existence of the ad before allowing it to go out. I'm constantly working to improve the system. I know some might think that the ads are just marketing for Aviary.info and in fact they are. I don't charge anything for people to use the feature on my site so the only thing I really get out of it is a little line saying that someone from my site sent the ad. I ca ...

If everyone donated a dollar we'd satisfy our donations for the entire year! We only have a few days left in August... don't let us come up short! Donations go toward paying the bills for bandwidth, server space, added software (like the live chat) and most important, my time running the site and programming all the fun features everyone enjoys.
